Childcare Offer – Changes in your circumstances and eligibility checks

You must update your Childcare Offer for Wales account immediately if your circumstances change such as:

  • your job or the hours you normally work change
  • your gross income is higher than expected and may exceed £100,000 per year
  • you are made redundant
  • you have stopped studying

Re-eligibility checks

Every term you will receive an email and alert in your account instructing you to check and confirm your circumstances. If there are changes, such as a new job or address, you must provide updated evidence for funding to continue. If you confirm that your circumstances remain the same, you must also confirm this.

You have 4 weeks to respond to these eligibility checks. If you do not respond, your application will enter a Temporary Exception Period (TEP) for 8 weeks, during which time you will receive ongoing reminders to respond. If there is still no response, Childcare Offer funding will end at the end of the exemption period.

20% Spot Checks

If you confirm that your circumstances remain the same following re-eligibility checks, your application may be subject to a 20% spot check. This is a random sample. If selected, you will receive an email and alert to your account instructing you upload full evidence.

You have 4 weeks to respond to this spot check. If you do not respond, your application will enter a Temporary Exception Period (TEP) for 8 weeks, during which time you will receive ongoing reminders to respond. If there is still no response, Childcare Offer funding will end at the conclusion of the exemption period.

It is crucial for you to respond to these re-eligibility and spot checks to avoid having your funding withdrawn.
