The Parent Network supports parents in Caerphilly county borough to have a voice in decisions that affect their families. Parents can participate in local planning groups to help shape local services and policies for families, children, and young people.
We offer opportunities for parents to get together, share experiences, and receive support. These groups provide peer support, help build confidence, foster healthy relationships, and connect parents to additional services when needed. The Parent Network also helps professionals understand parents’ perspectives on important issues.
We offer various activities to cater to different interests, including sewing, sugar craft, parent and toddler groups (including Welsh Medium sessions), and involvement in our allotment. If you’re interested in joining a group, please check our social media channels or call us during office hours for the latest information.
We hold a monthly support group for all Kinship Carers in the county borough. This free session includes refreshments and provides a space to form friendships, access information and guidance, and learn about relevant events and activities.
The Parent Champions Programme is based on the idea that parents are best positioned to share information about available services and help the community access them. Our champions, who are local and trusted community members, receive training to confidently share information about early years services and events. They engage with individuals and groups, sharing positive experiences with local services and directing people to relevant resources.
Champions receive training, support, and rewards through a credit scheme, which can be used for family days out, cinema tickets, and more. They keep records of their interactions to help our coordinator track the work being done. Being a champion is a rewarding way to make a difference, gain new skills, and build friendships.
Anyone can join our Parent Champion programme. For more information, please call us at 01443 875444 during office hours or email our Coordinator, Leann, at leannec.PN@gmail.com.
